rapid assessment

Benefit-SBN in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA) and Amhara and Tigray Regions Agricultural Research Institutes (ARARI and TARI) conducted a rapid assessment involving stakeholders of the most pressing challenges of the sesame sector in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. The result shows four major alert areas or pressing issues:

  • Reduced sesame acreage affects future export revenues
  • Availability of labour and welfare of labourers are of major concern
  • Mobility restriction hampers input- and extension services
  • Increased costs for production result in a more acute need for credit

Please follow the links and read the introductory brief and the alerts with proposed actions to address the identified issues.
