Two cooperative modules tested

Ardaita Agricultural Vocational Education and Training College (ATVET), in collaboration with Fair and Sustainable (F&S) and Benefit-SBN, organised a two-day training on ‘Cooperative marketing’ and ‘Cooperative organisation and management’ from 11th – 15th of December 2017 at Gondar.

28 participants convened from 8 cooperatives under Metema and Setit Humera Unions, experts from woreda cooperative promotion offices and Tigray region cooperative promotion agency attended the pilot training.

Ardaita College is becoming the centre of excellence in cooperative training. The college has developed nine cooperative training modules with the budget and technical support from F&S Ethiopia, Aeres UAS and GIZ. The modules have not yet been tested in practice. The college has sated to collaborate with F&S and Benefit-SBN and has piloted two of the modules in sesame cooperatives from Northwest Ethiopia.

After facilitating the training, Ardaita College trainers received feedback both from the participants and consultants. It was suggested that training facilitators need to tailor the training modules considering the context of the sesame cooperatives.

In this project, it is proposed to train about 120 sesame cooperatives in Amhara and Tigray regions.
