Representatives of the four newly formed investor farmers ‘crop production and marketing cooperatives’ at north Gondar zone discussed with higher officials drawn from government and private organizations in the workshop held at Gondar on the 7th of May 2016.
The discussion was mainly held on sesame production and quality improvement, market development, credit facilitation and value addition. During the workshop, attention was given to the challenges in relation to credit, marking, procedures in the ECX, technical support from woreda offices of agriculture, agricultural inputs etc.
Participants drawn from the four newly formed investor farmers’ cooperatives from Quara, Metema, West Armachiho and Tegede Woredas; higher officials including H.E. Mr. Tefera Derbew MoA, Minister; Mr. Shumuye Alemu, vise head of ABoA; Mr. Mulugeta Worku, north Gondar zone administrator and regional, zonal and woreda representatives from trade, transport, CPO, ACSI, banks, Gondar Agricultural Research Center (GARC), ECX, unions, BENEFIT-SBN.
The one-day workshop was organised by Amhara Region Bureau of Agriculture (ABoA) in collaboration with the regions Cooperative Promotion Agency (CPA) and Federal Ministry of Agriculture (MoA).
